Michelangelo's David is perhaps the most famous sculpture and symbol of the Italian Renaissance.

David was the biblical underdog who was able to defeat the giant Goliath with a slingshot. The biblical character also comes to symbolizes the Republic of Florence as the underestimated contender that always emerges the triumphant victor.

Michelangelo truly shows great love for the human form. The statue reveals his strong dedication and incredible attention to proportions, features and details.
